Pinterest is a strangely exciting platform to use and it is exciting because you are exposed to a mosaic of different great looking images that have something to teach you in most cases. While a lot of people generally use Pinterest to enjoy the pictures and entertainment they bring there are people on the other side of the coin who are creating the content and are profiting from it.
In this blog post you will be learning about the basics of growing a Pinterest following and getting a following as a result. The people that follow you are potential website visitors that will contribute to your earning from advertising, and benefit by receiving value from you.
Like all social media, Pinterest relies on interaction and engagement and have their own set of rules on what works, what can be done and what cannot be done. The following is going to be a list things and steps that I have found to be useful and work in relatively short space of time.

The steps
Step 1: Create a Pinterest account if you do not have one already for your blog. In the previous post we spoke about a website that lessens the amount of work that you have to do posting on social media one by one by allowing you to have applets set up. If you are not yet signed up do google IFTTT and sign up so you can create your applets, the previous post explains what an applet is and you create it. In this case you will be creating an applet that will be allowing you to make posts on Instagram and have your posts on Instagram (only images) appear on Pinterest automatically. This way you do not have to go through the process again.
Step 2: Go to your Pinterest account, create a board and start pinning other people's pins onto that board. The board must be related to your niche. You will be searching for Pinterest posts that have to do do with what you are involved with in your niche. For example, if you are in the Make Money Online niche then you will search using that term as a start.
Step 3: Search for accounts in the same niche as yours and start following their followers. This is because their followers are more likely to be interested in what you have to say than the people in your niche, because they are trying to promote to them as well. Pinterest will allow to follow about 150 per day. This will take you only a few minutes to to do. Do this on a daily basis and you will begin notice that your number of followers increases.
Step 4: Once you have followed people, have a board or two and have repined other people's pins you can now make use of your own pins. As I mentioned, in step one you only have to post on Instagram and you will not have to repost on Pinterest. You may, depending on your preferences, want to edit the description and link on Pinterest on your post once it shows up.
Step 5: Make sure that you have filled in your profile and have put the link to your website where they allow you to put a link and people who are interested will visit your website. As usual, have a call to action on your bio so that people are aware that you want them to click on your link and go to your website to receive value.
Extras
It will be very helpful for you to make sure that your Pinterest account is a business account so that you receive things such as analytics, so that you know how your pins are performing and tweak where necessary. Also make use of group boards, when it comes to group boards you can create your own group board and build it or you can ask to join other people's group boards. Here are some places where you can find group boards from your niche.
- pingroupie.com
- Some Facebook Groups (Depending on your niche)
- Click here and go to these Pinterest search results to get other boards
Do not spam the group boards and be nice, so that you can get traffic to your website.
Final thoughts
It your decision at the end of the day to take action and be consistent, and as it was mentioned on this blog before, you need to go into a niche that you are interested in and are passionate about and the work will be easy. Go to Pinterest and experiment and see what you can make of it. In the next post we will talking about SEO and how all the things we have spoken about so far tie into it.
