Make Money Online 101, The Truth

Before you read, it is good to know that this blog  post will contain a lot of "I", I can not write it any other way, because I am relating a story to you. A story that might be a bit broken, but can, hopefully, make a change in your online business.

I thank the ability to make online for existing, because discovering such a power sent me on a four year search that would alter my life forever. I mean imagine having the option to make money from home, who can say no to that. I thought it was easy, and it is, but I had no idea that that the easiest things in the world are the hardest at the time. They are the hardest because we keep looking for the hard way, the tough way. 

We are stuck in a world where we are given freedom, but we reject it because we are convinced that we are in a prison. That is the case with any path that one takes, you must first set yourself free and realize that life is simple. I have learned that to make money in any business you must build your customer base, that is it. There is literally nothing else to it. The challenge with us is that we always want to cheat the law, go around and over the law, but the law remains.

If you go and chase everything else, but the law, you will always be chasing. The law of the universe states that you must serve to receive money. This law works perfectly online, and I believe everywhere else. Another thing that keeps us from building is fear. I do not know how many times I asked myself. what if there is a world war and the internet is bombed? Believe me I ask myself such silly questions. The truth is, the war would probably bomb everything, why should In live is fear, but I swear to you this irrational fear controlled me for four years.

What I do know, however, is that I was aware of it, and I countered it. I took action and failed repeatedly to defeat this irrational fear of building. I even built a membership system that crashed because I ran out of funds trying to build. I spent money on paid traffic and it did work for me, because I was afraid to start building by first buying a course. Instead of investing in a course that would teach me about the right sources of paid traffic I tried to buy the traffic blindly based on free information. That, coupled with the fear to build, resulted in failure, so there I was back to square one.

Now the question is, did I make money online in the past few years? The good news is I did, and it was very exciting for me to think that I could just do a few things online and get money. It was like winning the lottery, but it was not sustainable. So, I have given myself the task to build a complete a blog on a free platform and monetize it while I am at it, because I am now experienced and seasoned and want to complete something without any disturbance. I will translate this amazing strategy that is not so secret into a paid platform, after I am done teaching myself how to build and look back at a blog that has hundreds and thousands of words put in.

So, what does it take to make money online? The truth is, you can use free or paid traffic when you have the money, it all still needs this, building. The biggest online gurus have a blog somewhere, ask yourself why...

The money in online marketing lies in, yes you guessed it right, your mailing list. Your mailing list is your customer base. Your customer will do the following amazing things for you, they will:

• Read your blog posts and get you paid even if your "SEO" sucks.
• Some of them will become loyal and even buy your products.

This applies to everything, from selling insurance to being a rapper. That is what many people seem to miss. Rather spend four years building a mailing list than spend that time chasing after pennies. One day you will be able to tap into money whenever you need it. The enemy is "instant gratification", where people want to make money fast. Yes you can do that, but ask yourself... is it sustainable? Even if you want to get quick paid traffic, you will have to build, learn, test, fail and then succeed, so there is no way around it. 

So, how do you make money online free?

That is it, the circle is the most important part of the whole process, because it feeds the main source of traffic to your website and also creates sales for you. All you have to do is just keep writing good and meaningful content. For how long? Stop being impatient, give yourself the rest of your life if you want it to happen fast.

Coming up with content 

A question that I get a lot is, how then do you come up with content? First of all you should be in a niche you are truly interested in and are passionate about. It does not matter what niche. I know there are people out there who say you should find a profitable niche with low competition. The truth is that is not necessary since search engine traffic does not have to be the primary source of your advertising. You can even advertise offline if you want. 

What is important is that you pick a niche that you love. I love the art of making money, so that is my niche. If you love dogs, let that your niche, if you love religion, art, science, whatever, there is an audience for that and you are one of them.

After you have selected your niche let your experiences feed your writing. You always have a story to tell about your favorite thing, and that is it. So tell your stories to your audience and you will find an audience that will care about what you have to say.

Being heard and seen 

Yes, of course it is important to be heard and seen, but people put too much emphasis on this in all the wrong places, or if they are doing it right, they send the people who want to see them to the wrong place. The place you are supposed to be sending people to is either a blog post which has a popup form that offers a valuable thing or piece of information in exchange for an email address. You can also send people to a landing page of similar nature when campaigning. 

For blog posts, if the content is great people will signup for your mailing list and for landing pages, if the offer is great people will signup as well.

When traffic is coming it means you are being heard and your mailing list is growing. You can buy paid traffic or you can get free traffic. Paid traffic can be very powerful if you know what you are doing. As for free traffic, make sure brand or website has a twitter, instagram, facebook, pinterest, and youtube account. There are also other platforms such forums, websites like Qoura,  Ask.com, Yahoo Answers, etc.

You just need to be active in those platforms. Post YouTube videos to accompany your blog posts, and make sure each blog post makes it to all these platforms. Answer questions on discussion forums, follow people who are interested in your niche in social media platforms, like their stuff, make use of hashtags, and do your keyword research.

A useful tool that you can use is IFTTT which allows you to minimize the amount of actions your will take when sharing on social media. You can also make sue of bots that do not break rules and regulation to automate some of the following, commenting and liking. Some bots are free and others are paid. I recommend paid bots.

You can have more than one Instagram accounts. Many big names make use of this technique to cover a greater audience. This can also apply for twitter.

Keyword Research 

This is important, but not that important. Yes it is great to rank a YouTube video and a website to the fist page as it will give you a boost in traffic, but recently it takes traffic to get to the first page. So focus more on building a loyal mailing list following.

However, keyword research does give you an edge so make use of the google keyword planner and find keywords pertaining to your niche or the theme of the blog post you are currently busy with. You can make use of low competition keywords, the google keyword tool gives you all this information. They move the tool all the time so I will not put a link here, just google it and you will find the new location.

For ranking YouTube videos, make use of VidIQ for the Chrome browser or Tube Buddy for the Firefox browser. They both work in a similar way. They help you find the keywords and hashtags. I have also found that YouTube hashtags work well on social media.

Don't forget your Autoresponder

An Autoresponder is a tool that is in the form of a membership website that helps you collect emails through your signup form and send automatic emails and emails to all your contacts at once without you having to send them one by one. It is a great tool to have to manage your mailing list. You signup for mailchimp.com and get started there. They have a free membership for the first 2000 contacts and that is a decent amount of contacts.

Confused?

If you are confused, do not worry, read this post over and over again and take action one step at a time. Usually I find myself confused if I do not eat my elephant on bite at a time. What is important, mostly, is that you start writing and building your mailing list. This is an introductory post and it will not contain all the bits and details about every topic on online marketing. It is an overview of the game and should spark an idea inside you and help you realize what the whole game is about, give you a birds eye view and a foundation. The next blog post will be about networks that you can use to monetize your blog.

The value of Increasing your knowledge

Make sure that you spend some time during the day to read forums and blog posts, watch videos and so on. Spend at least an hour a day doing this. This will help improve your skills on online marketing, because you can only become a pro over time. We are all always learning and it is a good habit to always keep learning so that you stay ahead of the game and your competition.

These are the basics. You can do this and make a killing. All the advanced ninja stuff works when you have mastered the basics. Write post after post and do not stop until you are way over 100 posts of at least 1000 words each. The closer to 3000 the better, but do not force because you will stop enjoying the process.
